We’re all bored. A bunch of us are cooking to pass the time and/or feed ourselves because it’s pretty tough to spread out TV dinners and pre-packaged stuff for the couple weeks between grocery trips. The internet has been saving my butt with millions of recipes. This post is simple: show us your food.

I don’t want to tie up delivery services for people who really need to use them, and I stocked up to be in Extra Cheap Mode for the month ahead of Sebring...which didn’t happen. Thankfully, that meant that a lot of my pre-shelter-in-place shopping was already done.

Above: I realized that I had chicken, I had mayonnaise, and I didn’t have sliced bread, so I cut some slices of a big challah loaf to make up for it. Don’t tell Rally Chicken. It was delicious.

Baking the marinated chicken used above. I used to burn everything I put in the oven and set the fire alarm off, so progress? Progress.

More chicken, some salad with some quick-pickled shallots and some really good spicy marinated cheese I picked up at the store. Cheese is a legitimate side, don’t @ me.

The chicken tacos, which were made with chicken marinated in Yuengling buffalo sauce and got more of the same sauce on top.

Added sautéed peppers and onions that were also cooked in a little bit of Yuengling to said tacos. They were good.

A salad with “Frutti di Mare” (read: leftover seafood trimmings from the fish counter) on top. Probably 75% fish. I got bored and added cheddar cubes around the plate. It was good.

Seared scallops with a little bit of soft Le Roule cheese on top.

More scallops and some quick-pickled onions to go on the salad below.

Making spätzle, a.k.a. arms day. My kitchen is still a mess from this.

SPÄTZLE ACHIEVED! They’re a little chunky, but I decided to try the hard way of making these with a flat board and a flat blade because I was that bored.

The end result: käsespätzle, garnished with the shallots I burnt during a Zoom call. Hey, it was my first human contact in a while. We’ll see if I end up picking those off. I have a back-up onion now to sauté now that I’m not talking to people on the internet.

This is the best and worst idea I ever had because it was really, truly that good. My kitchen exists to suffer now, and I am this bored.

I didn’t have bread, I didn’t want to go out just for bread and the pre-made flour tortillas (I know, I know, but I bought for the long-haul) I bought were about to go stale. So, I put the pork roll, provolone and cherry peppers that I bought for an omelette into the last tortillas .

Salad with pre-made curry tofu chunks that I warmed up, harissa blorps and curry cayenne hot sauce. Also delicious.

Here’s what happened to the pork roll, provolone and cherry peppers: an omelette, garnished with a pepperoncini that came with a take-out sandwich (I think?).

It was a pain in the butt to make, but it was delicious.

if you have some chicken, cut into chunks then bung them in a wok, lightly brown add some Tikka Masala paste let it simmer, then put it onto a plate of basmati rice.

I’m still pretty busy, but have felt that I was obliged to bake chocolate chip cookies two weekends in a row, something I don’t often do. Your food looks very good, well done.

Most of that looks awesome. And what doesn’t is because I’m not a fan of seafood.

I don’t have any pictures of my food, but it’s pretty boring. This shelter in place really hasn’t changed how we eat. During the week I eat a combination of chicken breast, green beans, and white beans with some hot sauce. Yeah, it’s kind of bland, but it’s nutritionally good for me. On weekends that’s when I’ll make something. Last week was stromboli. The week before was chicken parm.

I’m still working, so it’s been more or less business as usual for me, although I’m ordering more takeout beer and pizza in order to try to keep local breweries and restaurants  afloat.

OMFG!!!, I want to eat my phone because it looks soooo good! In hindsight, I should have taken a photo of the quiche I made on Sunday: thick hardwood bacon & sauteed mushrooms, pepper jack, shredded parmesan, mozzarella and Colby jack cheeses.

I can only offer at this time a photo from a month ago of cinnamon roll waffles

I do a lot of the same, but I don’t quite have the spare cash to eat out too much right now. :( Everywhere’s either under a hiring freeze or slashing freelance budgets. I officially (still) hate my life.

They were.  Works easier if you have a modern locking waffle maker.  Otherwise like me, I slapped on some oven mitts and held the lid down for about 45 seconds.

I made croissants. They were amazing. Flaky and buttery. Half the dough is in the freezer. I also learned I’ll probably never eat croissants again because of the 4 lbs of butter in the batch. Then again I have half of the dough left and they were soooooo damn good.

Probably bake some bread later.

Oh man, I love croissants so much. Not sure I want to wreck my kitchen further to make them, but it is the biggest thing I miss from grabbing coffee elsewhere.

I have made, so much food in this crapshow. Steaks, numerous breads, pastas, smoked meats. And now I’m experimenting making biltong... This stuff is friggin crack, and think I may need to make a biltong box once this is over with.

My mother was worried about me and ordered me a 20lb box of frozen shrimp from QVC (4 5lb bags of cooked lg shrimp).

So there has been several shrimp based meals the past week. Shrimp Alfredo, shrimp & Grits, Shrimp sort-of-Poboy,  shrimp omelet. And Shrimp & Grits again today to finish off the open bag.
